Pommel: Copper with Ivory and amethyst inlay
Fittings: Copper, brass, and sterling silver
Features a 316 stainless steel blade. Double edged, approx 24cm long.
An copper proof plug with the maker's mark is set into the blade, while an oval copper cartouche is inset within the brass crescent moon quillions. On one side, this cartouche bears the maker's mark, a silver lightening bolt (for will), on the other side a silver sun symbol (as the giver of life).
Copper and brass handle fittings hold a hand carved blackbean handle which is surmounted by a copper and silver wire twist (two goddess metals - the moon and venus) around a silver bezel holding an ivory cabuchon (for purity). The ivory bears another silver bezel which holds a large faceted amethyst (for calm).
The fittings for the scabbard are of copper, brass and silver.
The top fitting on the front of this Athame features a silver ankh set with a cabachon cut amethyst gemstone. On the other side, a silver fertility symbol (a womb).
The bottom fittings are made from copper and brass and have small sun symbols at the focal point.
There is a brass ring on the point for protection and to fasten to cords, allowing the athame to be tied to the wearer's leg, to prevent tangling.

The Athame is a knife-like tool used to channel energy and casting the circle. Traditionally, an Athame would be black handled, though many other styles are used according to personal preference. Generally an Athame is not used to cut anything material. It symbolizes the Fire or Air elements which varies according to tradition.
